Cave Tools Short Pigtail Flipper Review

When it comes to turning over meat, especially bacon, a regular fork just doesn’t cut it. It not only doesn’t grip the meat, but the splatter potential is huge. No one wants grease or juice splattered in their face or on their clothing when they’re cooking.

Many times we don’t flip meat and bacon over enough times because we don’t want to deal with the mess that comes along with it. That ends in meat that is burnt or overcooked on one side. Who wants that?

So, when I had the opportunity to review CaveTools’ Short Pigtail Flipper, I was excited. We cook a lot of bacon in my house and I can’t tell you how many times the grease has splattered or popped as I went to turn it over. Not getting a good enough grip on it was the main culprit. But, when I used the Pigtail Flipper, it was much easier to get a hold of the meat and turn it quickly.

The single prong at the top is sharp enough to grab the meat while the handle makes it easy to flip over the meat quickly and easily. This results in better cooked bacon and less grease splatter. I’m happy because there’s no mess and my family is happy because they get bacon that’s cooked well!

The Pigtail Flipper can also be used to turn over steaks and meat on the grill so you don’t have the flames flaring up. Since you can use it both inside and outside, it’s a win-win and a must-have in the kitchen gadget department.

You can get your Pigtail Flipper at the Cave Tools site or on Amazon. Be sure to use the promo code Flipper15 so you can get 15% off your purchase.

Once you get your Pigtail Flipper to turn your meat, you won’t turn anywhere else!

Review & Giveaway: Stickerkid

Your child goes to school and two other kids have the same lunch bag as she does. The “sticky” label you put on falls off. The other kids don’t have a label on their bags. The kids don’t know which bag belongs to who until they start going through what’s inside.

It’s a Kindergarten nightmare.

You could keep trying to put on your own “sticky” labels or you could try something new. For some reason every time I put a label on a lunchbox, book bag, or something else, it comes off. It’s annoying!

So, what’s a momma to do?

How about trying some new personalized stickers that work and look cool at the same time?

I recently tried out some labels from Stickerkid. These labels are great because not only do they stick well, they are also fun to design. You can choose labels for belongings or clothing. I chose ones for belongings. Once you choose which ones you’re going to go with you can customize them. You can pick your own design to suit your child’s personality. You can even add your child’s photo. There’s no mistaking who belongs to what items if you do this!

Stickerkid labels are great for school, daycare, and even camp. They’re even good for inside the house if you have more than one child. This way you can tell who belongs to what minus the arguments.

If you want to try labels from Stickerkid, here’s your chance. The Mommy Rundown is partnering with Stickerkid to give away $20 worth of labels plus free shipping. Enter here! Good Luck!

Review & Giveaway: Meat Tenderizer Mallet

Go into any kitchen store and there are rows and rows of gadgets used for just about anything you can imagine. Some are worth the money and some are definitely not. Trust me; I have a few of those that are definitely not. So, when you find a product that does what it says, it’s refreshing.

With that said, one of the “must have” kitchen items is a meat tenderizer, especially if you are making chicken cutlets. If the chicken is thick and tough it not only tastes bad, it takes longer to cook and can burn in the pan.

Chicken is usually a bit thick when you take it out of the package.

So, I tried out the Meat Tenderizer Mallet from Cave Man Tools to see if it would make my chicken cutlets thinner and easier to cook.

After just a few uses, I could tell the chicken was thinner than other times when I cooked it without using the mallet. It was thinner and easier to bread and fry. The chicken cooked faster without burning.

Once it was cooked, it was also easier to cut up for my kids to eat. Many kids (at least mine!) tend to shy away from meat when it is too thick for them to chew. This benefit alone is worth it!

If you want to try the Meat Tenderizer Mallet for yourself, here’s your chance. The Mommy Rundown is hosting a giveaway for one of these mallets from Cave Man Tools. Giveaway ends April 15, 2015 at midnight!
